‘Eternal Flow  ‘

C.2600 years old.  Lullmore bogland. Kildare Ireland ( completed in Jan.2023)

This 30cm piece of bog oak has a striking, abstract form that resembles a weathered, flowing figure shaped by time. Its dark, almost black surface is marked with deep grooves, cracks, and a textured, rugged appearance, giving it a dramatic and ancient look.

Long ago, in the misty depths of an ancient Irish bog, a mighty oak stood tall, its branches reaching for the heavens. For centuries, it weathered storms and seasons, a silent guardian of the land. One fateful night, a great flood swept through, uprooting the tree and pulling it into the dark, peat-rich waters. There, submerged in the bog's embrace, time slowed. The oak, now a relic of a forgotten era, transformed under the weight of centuries, its wood darkening and hardening into a mysterious, sculpted form.

The wood's natural curves suggest a dynamic pose with a prominent upward sweep that could be interpreted as a head or crest. The glossy finish highlights the intricate grain patterns, adding depth and character to this unique piece.
"Eternal Flow"  reflects its timeless quality and the fluid sculptured shape formed by nature over centuries. H 35cm W. 35cm D.12cm
